Fabian Bartos

Fabian Bartos is currently a freshman at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. He is majoring in Aviation Flight Management and minoring in Theatre. He is looking forward to earning his R-ATP rating, in order to gain Captain hours in a regional airline before moving up to Delta or American Airlines. His background had no sign of ambition towards aviation. In his freshman year of high school, Fabian was intrigued with 3D printing. Over the four years of high school, he printed several models, which varied in complexity. Fabian’s first 3D printed model was of East Leyden High School, the school where he attended. In 2015, the school principal contacted Fabian about building a model of the White House that would be presented to President Obama at a Maker Education event. Despite being on summer vacation, Fabian quickly got to work scaling, drawing, and building the White House and finished the project in two weeks. All his accomplishments of his freshman year, got him a place in the “Thirty under 30” edition of SMEs Manufacturing Engineering Magazine. Later that summer, Fabian got the thought to 3D print a violin, which took him two weeks from start to finish, which he later presented at his high school’s Board of Education meeting. The successful completion of a fully functional full size 3D printed violin, not only got him an article mentioning in District Administration Magazine, but it gave him an idea to start a second project. This long process included drafting a design, dimensioning and scaling, along with programming, printing, assembling, sanding, and painting. This process started on August 22, 2016, and was ended on March 5, 2019. It resulted in a fully functional full size 3D printed cello. Fabians determination and persistence for nothing less than perfect, has got him to where he is today.
